LIVING LOCAL PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
This project will address the objectives of the Living Local – Regional Grant Program as follows:
- It will support the development, improvement and promotion of Seaspray as a destination that understands the needs of disabled, elderly and health compromised persons and has taken positive steps to provide infrastructure that will enable them to share and enjoy experiences which would otherwise only be available to able bodied community members.
- It will enhance community inclusiveness, belonging, and participation by providing infrastructure that enables disabled, elderly and health compromised persons to share the beach environment with family and friends.
- It is a small project that is by its nature a smaller scale approach to revitalising the Seaspray community.
- It enhances safety and accessibility to the Seaspray beach for those in the wider Gippsland region for whom Seaspray is their nearest
and most convenient beachside destination.
The project will deliver one or more of the outcomes of the Living Local – Regional Grant Program as follows:
- It will improve community perceptions of the public amenity of local community facilities by opening an important facility that has been closed to the public since December, 2021 and will remain closed (or be removed) in the absence of funding to repair damaged sections.
- It will increase the services and activities available to community by opening up beach access to persons of all abilities.
- It will increase community assets and small-scale infrastructure by repairing and making usable important infrastructure.
- It will increase community use of public space being the Seaspray beach, and community assets being the beach access ramp.
- It will increase social cohesion within the community by enabling elderly, disabled and other health compromised persons to share the Seaspray beach environment and activities with family members and friends.
